The reward of baking
The heartbeat of every home is the kitchen. Attend any family function and most of the member gather there. Food unites us. We break bread with those we love most. Just like many others, my favorite room in my home is the kitchen. In the kitchen, my creative energy explodes.
By nature, I am peaceful and my steps are calculated so baking suits my personality well. Baking requires full concentration as the baker measures and weighs ingredients. Whisking and sifting soft flour with leavening agents creates a relaxing environment while my Kitchen Aid mixer hums in the background, blending butter and sugar. The smell of warm vanilla wafting in the air as it mixes with fresh eggs awaken all of my sense as I load my pastries into a warm oven.
One can stop at a local bakery to pick up a slice of pie or cake but where is the reward? Creating a scratch-made cake requires the most important ingredient-and that is love. I bake with passion and my desire to put my heart and soul into each dessert.
The greatest reward to baking are the smile that beam from the faces of those enjoy my creations. All the labor is worth the reward of satisfaction and scratch-made desserts.
