Back To School

Donating time, talent and pastries

My day to day activities may involve baking lemon bars, birthday cakes and connecting with clients. However today I was back in familiar territory. I found find myself coming full circle, back to the beginning. While donating a batch of pastries, I had the opportunity to meet a delightful group carrying on the educational torch. iEducate conducted a summer program at Lockhart Elementary School and wouldn’t you know that the summer camp culminated with the students’ organizing a business, selling lemonade. The best of both worlds, education and entrepreneurship collided in one program. I learned a great deal from the students and stewards of this program. As I walked the halls of this historical school, memories of my career as a teacher flooded my mind. I was a fresh face out of college and eager to work with children and make a difference. My brief visit today reminded me that although I made career change, I am still very comfortable in my old skin as an educator.
