Where have you been all of my life?

Opening my first bakery in Houston, Texas

In January of 2022, I discovered that one of my favorite bakeries closed their doors.  After the initial shock and disbelief, I allowed myself to dream a little and considered moving into the vacant space.  Oftentimes, doubt crept into my thoughts as I'd drive by hoping that another business owner would purchase and occupy the space.

Spring came around and the bakery was still vacant.  I couldn't believe it!  "How could the adorably designed bakery still be on the market? I pondered.  "Maybe this was a sign.  Maybe this is mine," I deliberated.  With as much faith as I could muster, I called my friend and real estate broker to learn a little more about the bakery.  To my disbelief the bakery met all of my requirements and desires.

Still struck by fear, I convinced myself that this was not for me when it was clearly exactly the answer to my prayers.  So I decided to help out God and a few fellow bakers.  I introduced the vacant bakery to several colleagues, even highlighted the "steal" it was.  No one took advantage of the offer.

On September, while preparing for bed I heard a voice-an audible voice that spoke, "Go and get your bakery."  I could not sleep.  I tossed restlessly.  In the middle of the night I drove to the bakery hoping that at this point it was still available.  At 1:30am I parked squarely in front of the bakery. Every fiber within me felt as if this was the right move.

Minutes later, I called the phone number in the window and with that one call changed the course of my life.  10 years ago I walked away from a safe career as a teacher to pursue my dream to one day open a bakery.  The dream is now a reality.

I hope that this testimony encourages you to keep your dreams alive.  I look forward to welcoming you into our new home.

Be sweet,

Heather
